Prison Ministry Initiative
The 096 Prison Chaplaincy Ministry supports the incarcerated men and women in Rutherford County, North Carolina by supplying and funding three chaplains.
Essential supplies are regularly provided such as hygiene kits and reading glasses, devotionals, and Bibles.
Parolees and formerly incarcerated individuals are connected to bridge services to promote successful reintegration in society.

By funding chaplains through the 096 Prison Chaplaincy Ministry, lives are being transformed, families are being reunited, addictions are being broken, and previously incarcerated men and women are going on to live productive lives.

Where Ministry Happens
Two chaplains are assigned to the Men’s and Women’s Detention Center at the Rutherford County Jail next to the County Courthouse.
One chaplain is assigned to the Corrections Department Prison located on Ledbetter Road in Spindale.
Annual Fundraiser Banquet 2025
The annual fundraiser scheduled for Tuesday, October 14, 2025 at 6:00 pm is your opportunity to learn more about what God is doing in the lives of incarcerated people right here in Rutherford County, North Carolina. Reservations are required. Testimonies and a keynote address are not to be missed.
Empowering the Incarcerated Community
The U&I Enrichment Center is dedicated to helping individuals and families reconnect with God, their loved ones, and the wider community. For those who have experienced incarceration, this mission translates into a pathway toward healing, reconciliation, and meaningful reintegration.
A Pair of Reading Glasses That Changed a Life
Jana was a familiar face at the jail, often in and out due to frequent trespassing charges. Homeless and struggling, she would sometimes be found sitting in the middle of the road, which would lead to her arrest. Ironically, jail provided her with temporary shelter and meals.
